When the Spiritual Path Flat-Lines
There comes a point in a spiritual practitioner’s journey where the path no longer feels as elevated as it once did.
The inspirations that once flowed so freely have dried up. Motivation lags. Attention to the work falters. What was once a living flame of purpose settles into something quieter, almost still. This is the moment when the spiritual Self begins to flat-line.
In that quiet space the remaining Ego stirs. It turns inward with self-condemnation and outward in search of someone or something to blame. Eyes begin to scan the field, particularly those who appear successful, those who make a living through their own methods, techniques and ways of explaining the perspectives and experiences they have gathered. Fault is found. “They are corrupt.” “They should not be teaching.” “They are misled, wrong, badly informed, misguided.” Sometimes the language grows darker still: possessed by demons, entities or parasites.
The work itself begins to change. Writings and words that once sought to illuminate now circle around attempts to diminish, ridicule or destroy the creations of others.
This pattern is not confined to the spiritual realms. It appears across many professions whenever jealousy, envy or the perceived threat of an alternative view rises to the surface. The strength of another’s light can feel, to the unsettled Ego, like a personal diminishment.
Yet there is room in this world for the full range of polarity in all its differing forms. Every soul fits somewhere within the vast spectrum of human experience, experiences that rise and fall throughout every lifetime and every civilisation. We are free to choose what we recognise, what we choose to believe, and what we allow to take root within us.
There are many fruits to choose from, many varieties. Not all of them are ripe. Some will never yield seed. But those that are nurtured, loved and cared for create their own successful existence in this world. And sometimes they bear more fruit still, fruit that others may freely take and feed upon.
When the inspirations fall silent and the Ego begins its restless searching, the invitation is not to tear down what another has built. The invitation is to turn once more toward the quiet place within, to tend the seed that is already present, and to remember that the garden is large enough for every genuine expression of Light.
Polarity is not the enemy. It is the field in which choice becomes possible. And choice, freely made in Love rather than in fear, is the very movement that allows the spiritual Self to rise again.
Loving Blessings
