There was once a Healer who sought to cure the ill and heal the sick.
He would promote his healing gifts by telling his story of a far off place where he had gained his skills and abilities from the teachings of celestial beings and had drunk the water from a Fountain of Life which had given him magical powers and immortality. Many had paid large sums of money to him to be cured of disease and ailments.

After some time, news of his story reached the ears of the King who sent for him to appear at the palace.

The King spoke – “I have heard claim that you are able to heal the sick and cure all ills. I would want others within my kingdom to be able to do this also – would you be willing to teach what you know to Others so that they might do as you do”?

“Oh no Sire, I cannot do so” – the man responded – “I was taught by Divine Celestial Beings as their chosen messenger and have sworn an Oath of Loyalty to protect and sanctify the teachings that I have been given. In return, I have been allowed to drink the Divine Water from the Fountain of Life which has provided me with immortality”.

With much eagerness, the King requested – “I too would like to drink of this magic water and gain immortality – where can I find this Fountain that you speak of”?

The man bowed his head and said quietly – “I cannot tell you Sire, for I have been sworn to secrecy that I can tell no others about its location, in case it is used by men of evil to gain from its great power”.

The King jumped up from his chair and stood over the man – “Then you would have been better off by making that promise of secrecy to also remain silent about its qualities. If you would refuse to tell your King how to benefit from that which you yourself benefit and are not willing to teach others the skills that you yourself have been taught, whilst you continue to thrive and gain from its knowledge, then I have no use for you as a subject within my kingdom. For I see nothing divine about keeping great knowledge in darkness and then calling it magic that only you can bring forth.”

He beckoned to his Soldiers – “Guards, take this man and chain him to the walls of the prison deep beneath this Palace – and there you shall spend the rest of your immortal life that you claim, without ever seeing the light of day again”.

An Oath of Loyalty that requires allegiance to retain knowledge within darkness serves no-one other than those who hide behind it or use it to hold power over others through secrecy of Truth. Wisdom is in the application of knowledge through the demonstration of that which benefit others from the Divine Truth that it holds for all.

And the Moral of the Story is:
An honourable Oath should be one that pledges Loyalty towards Truth and not to hold Truth in darkness.
